43rd CELEBRATORY GATHERING of '5TH OCTOBER'

On this coming Wednesday the 5th of Oct there will be an evening to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of Derry’s first Civil Rights March (time flies! Holy smoke). The evening will be a laid-back gathering of breeze shooters, artistes and folks who witnessed the event with their own eyes.

Known as 'the Duke Street march' it proved to be an historic event, it having changed the political landscape of Ireland. This Wednesday we will have an evening of memories, music and song from

Colm Bryce (who will perform ‘a song for Carlo’ his memory of the 2001 G8 demonstration in Genoa)

A five minute film of ‘Duke Street’ will be on view. Two of the organisers of the Duke Street march in 1968 Eamonn Mc Cann and Dermie Mc Clenaghan will be in attendance.

THERE WILL BE FOOD PROVIDED, NO ENTRANCE FEE.. ALL ARE VERY WELCOME. (Except The Sisters of the Immaculate Conception and the Christian Brothers. lol! XOD )
